TechCrunch is reporting that they are seeing a new listing ad format on Google:
It looks like they are experimenting with adding product listings. For people familiar with the rumored competitor to LendingTree, this should come as no surprise as this fits in well with the strategy that they seem to be taking in all arenas: “connect buyers with sellers directly.” They want to cut out the middle man whenever possible. Said a different way, if you don’t add value in the buying process, they want to by-pass you.
They will likely cause a lot more consolidation of businesses in the next few years. Large companies who act like they are at the end of the supply chain will probably become larger and smaller companies who don’t add value in some major way will likely fade away or get bought out by the bigger players.
