One of the best things about Adwords is that it is built to optimize your campaign. Google’s engineers purposely have focused on allowing their customers to continuously optimize their campaigns so that they get more clicks and Google gets more advertising revenue.
However, most times when I look at a Google Adwords campaign run by a beginner, all ad groups have just 1 ad. You are doing yourself a disservice if you are not testing variations of ad text against each other.
Here’s how it works. To run your ad, you’ll need to have at least one text ad. This text ad will consist of 4 lines of text:
Link Anchor Text
Description line 1
Description line 2
websiteurl.com
Create 3 variations for each line and then head over to http://adwordsmaximizer.com where you can enter your ad text lines and create the various combinations. Once you’ve run the ads for a while, take those numbers and use the tool again to analyse your results.
Test, test, test!
